Jersey City Theater Center
Jersey City Theater Center is a nonprofit performing arts organization founded in 2006 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Jersey City Theater Center produces theater, music, dance, film and visual arts that inspire conversations about the issues of our time, presenting work at White Eagle Hall and Merseles Studios in the heart of downtown Jersey City.
Year-round programming spans adults, youth and artists alike. The JCTC-KIDS family performance series introduces young audiences to live theater and dance. The DirectorsLab artist residency program supports emerging directors with rehearsal space, mentorship and a public showcase. The Jersey City New Play Festival develops new work by playwrights from the United States and abroad, giving Jersey City audiences an early look at plays before they premiere elsewhere.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Jersey City Theater Center relies on donations, memberships and sponsorships from individuals, foundations and local businesses to keep ticket prices accessible while paying artists fairly. Supporters can give online, by mail, or through in-kind contributions, and businesses and individuals are welcome to sponsor a season, a festival, or a single performance.
Community involvement is central to how Jersey City Theater Center operates. Visitors can browse the full events calendar for upcoming shows, apply to volunteer or intern in theater management, marketing, media production or gallery operations, or apply to join the Board of Trustees. Jersey City Theater Center also rents its flexible performance spaces for private events, screenings and community gatherings throughout the year.
